Even contestants on The Biggest loser are subject to this. On average, contestants from the show regain 70% of the weight they lost. This can be frustrating and disheartening, leading some to give up on their health goals altogether. The problem lies in the fact that diets are viewed as a temporary fix rather than a long-term lifestyle.

As a comparison, the average male should only eat 2500 calories a day. When you add to that that 25% of Americans do do any physical activity other than work related activities, it is easy to see why weight loss is hard.

Other diets focus on short-term results rather than long-term lifestyle changes. Once you reach your goal weight, it’s easy to slip back into old habits and regain the weight you lost.

In order to succeed in achieving your health goals, it’s important to take a positive approach that focuses on making sustainable lifestyle changes. This means enjoying your favorite foods in moderation and focusing on eating a wide variety of nutrient-dense foods that nourish your body.

Then get back out there and get back on your program.
